About Dancing Digits
Helping children to learn through movement for 25 years.
Dancing Digits was founded in 2001 with a simple idea: children learn brilliantly when they are moving.
Since then, we have worked with hundreds of schools, nurseries and community organisations, reaching more than 80,000 children through dance, movement, maths shows, workshops and active learning programmes.
Today, Dancing Digits uses structured, whole-body movement to music to support early learning and development. Our work helps children build physical skills, confidence and positive experiences with maths through activities that are active, engaging and memorable.
Movement, learning and confidence
Our sessions are designed around the way young children naturally learn – through movement, music, repetition, play and participation. Children might count while they jump, explore shape and space through their bodies, follow rhythms and patterns, or develop coordination while using mathematical language.
Inclusive by design
We believe movement should be for every child. Dancing Digits has worked across mainstream and specialist settings, including with hundreds of children with SEND.
Activities can be adapted for different abilities, communication needs and ways of participating, allowing children to join in at their own level.
What we offer
Today we support schools, nurseries, Early Years settings and organisations working with children through several connected strands: live Dancing Maths shows and workshops, regular classes and programmes, dance PE and enrichment, and staff training with practical resources that teachers and practitioners can use themselves.
Whether we are delivering directly to children or helping staff bring more movement into everyday learning, the idea running through everything we do is the same: to create more opportunities for children to move, learn, build confidence and enjoy positive experiences with maths.

Founded by Rebecca Hart
Dancing Digits was founded by Rebecca Hart, who has been creating and delivering innovative educational experiences for children for over 25 years.
As a performing arts teacher, Rebecca has always been passionate about getting children moving and finding creative ways to make learning fun. Dancing Digits grew from that idea — using movement to music to bring maths to life and help children learn in a way that feels active, positive and memorable.
Development
What began with creative maths activities and a live Dancing Maths show has developed into a wider range of programmes for schools, nurseries and organisations working with children.
Today, Dancing Digits includes live shows and workshops, regular classes, structured learning programmes and staff training — giving settings different ways to bring more movement into children’s learning and development.
Our approach has continued to develop over the years, including work supported by the Education Endowment Foundation to explore how teachers can use Dancing Digits ideas and activities within their own classrooms.
Our professional team
Dancing Digits works with a team of experienced dance, education and performing arts professionals who deliver our programmes, classes, workshops and shows in schools, nurseries and other venues across the UK.
Our team is trained in the Dancing Digits delivery approach, using clear modelling, expressive movement, animated facial expressions, performance skills and lots of encouragement to capture children’s attention and help them feel confident joining in.
The aim is to make every session feel lively, welcoming and engaging, while giving children clear demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to copy, respond, move and learn through active participation.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive funding and support for the research and development of the Dancing Digits learning programme, including a research project with the Education Endowment Foundation.

Bring Dancing Digits into your setting

Our Belief
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: a happy start in maths sets the foundation for a lifelong positive relationship with numbers – helping to reduce the risk of maths anxiety later on.
Since 2006, we’ve been running classes in schools – helping school children to feel good about maths by making it active, creative, and fun! Since 2020 we’ve offered classes across the East Midlands for parents and children, as well as sessions in early years settings.
