About Dancing Digits

Dancing Digits is the brainchild of Rebecca Hart, founder of Dance Equation – a leading provider of creative education with over 25 years’ experience in the education and community arts sectors.

A passionate advocate for play-based learning and an experienced performing arts teacher, Rebecca wanted to bring maths to life for children in a fun, engaging way – making it an enriched, multi-sensory learning experience.

Based on research

The idea for Dancing Digits began in 2006 and draws on her extensive work delivering movement-based learning in nurseries and schools, alongside research in real-life educational settings.

Our programme was also supported by year-long research conducted in Nottinghamshire schools with the Education Endowment Foundation, an independent charity that supports schools and early years settings to improve teaching and learning.

Our belief

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: a happy start in maths sets the foundation for a lifelong positive relationship with numbers – helping to reduce the risk of maths anxiety later on.

Since 2006, we’ve been running classes in schools – helping school children to feel good about maths by making it active, creative, and fun! Since 20020 we’ve offered classes across the East Midlands for parents and children, as well as sessions in early years settings.

Having achieved incredible success across the East Midlands, we’re now looking for like-minded people to join us. By growing a network of franchisees, we can bring the magic of movement-based early maths to even more children – supporting their development, boosting their confidence, and making a real difference to their learning journey.

Our achievements

Alongside glowing reviews from lots of happy customers – schools, early years settings, and parents alike – we were proud to be crowned “Toddler class of the year 2024” with Lots for Tots, finalists in the ICAP 2025 awards in the category of “Pioneer in Education” for our outstanding achievement in educating children, and nominated in the What’s On 4 Kids Awards 2025.
